Festival of Music
At the BBC Elstree Concert Band, we are always celebrating the great music that has been written for concert bands. Our concert title is inspired by Philip Sparke’s exuberant Music for a Festival and we will also be performing his Hanover Festival Overture. And to celebrate one of the greatest sporting festivals, we will take flight with Michael Torke’s soaring “Javelin" which was written for the Atlanta Olympics and was performed at the 2016 Last Night of the Proms. As well as the usual mix of current show tunes, the concert will also feature two concerto items from Lisa Walker, our Leader and Solo Clarinet, and Tim Costen, Principal French Horn. There will also be some musical Russian Tumblers and acrobatics to add to the festivities!
As usual, the band’s Musical Director, Andrew Morley, will be adding his own unique brand of musical celebration to the concert
This varied and exciting programme will be performed on 15th October in the fabulous setting of St Clement Danes Church, Aldwych, The Strand, WC2R 1DH at 7.30pm. Tickets for £10 (£8 concessions) are available on the door or in advance from email@example.com
